MUSIC??!
i love music!!! i really, really love music!! music that sounds like how i feel can help me communicate my feeling better than i can in writing alone; i make playlists for all my favorite people; i listen to music very, very often, as it's a solid source of stimulus and i often crave stimulus. i'm not really strict about genres myself, i care more about subjective things that are associated with how the music resonates with specifically me, but if you want to know how my computer categorizes the music i own, the genres i listen to the most are experimental, folk punk, punk, nu metal, hip-hop, rap, breakcore, vocaloid (isn't actually a genre, i know), and city pop. Hatsune Miku is only one of my favorite musicians, but i like to talk about her when i talk about music because she represents my belief slash principle that music should be accessible; both in the making and the listening of it. it's not just that i like her voice, or how she looks as a character that matches the voice, it's that Miku was originally a corporation's property, but through trial & error was released to the public. now, anyone can sing with her. long live accessiblity, slash freedom, long live music, long live Miku. Miku Miku Beeaaaaaaam
MUSIC!!! instead of listing my favorites, which change all the time,
MUSIC... a how-to guide, from someone with no authority whatsoever
your first step, is to find the music. you can do this in many ways. you can go to a live performance, you can ask a friend to go to a live performance, you can swap mp3s or flacs with your friend, you can find music on the radio, you can find music on the street, you can find music on FreeTube (marginally safer, more respectful Y*utube), you can find music on people's personal sites, or, i guess, you can find music on Sp*tify and i am already assuming you have SpotX (very necessary) and Sp*cetify (less necessary) downloaded. but i encourage quitting Sp*tify. i am trying to quit Sp*tify, it's just that finding music is admittedly so much harder without it. quick! send me music to listen to that i've never heard before! over email! that way i can stop using it
your second step, is to receive the music. if you or your friend go to a live performance, you or your friend should bring a recording device. if you and your friend swap mp3s or flacs, you are already receiving the music. if you find the music on the radio, or the street, wait until someone mentions the name of the song so you can look it up later. if you find the music on FreeTube, you can download the associated video without much hassle. if you find the music on someone's personal site, i assume the best practice would be to find their contact page and ask if you can have some copies. and if you find the music on Sp*tify, you should quit Sp*tify
your third & final step, is to store the music for further listening. you can also do this in many ways. i personally recommend CDs, an mp3 player, or, if you're lazy and you want to keep all your files on your computer where you really do feel they belong, you can download cool skins for your Windows Media Player. you can also use Foobar, or yet another program, although i use the Windows Media Player because i could never get all those cool plug-ins for Foobar to work, especially the last.fm ones, and my skin for the WMP is the Erektorset
