shaun tan is my favorite artist in the outer world, that is to say, my real favorite artists are all my friends. but he comes very close. shaun tan's work reflects a world similar to how i see it; with everything supposedly mundane made not-mundane and beauty & cruelty everywhere you look. his books are all prized belongings of mine. i took them with me when i went to rehab. i'll take them everywhere i go.
